Recently I was shipped most of my Comiket 95 goods, as well as various artbooks, and decided that I would be scanning a bunch of it. Of which I would be dumping here. I didn't see /animu/ with any thread about scanning, translating, and editing so I thought /animu/ could use one too. I use an Epson Perfection V600 Photo for scanning due to the large scan bed that can easily scan large artbooks and the posters in them.
For those who want to get into scanning or editing. These guides are a useful tool to get started.
>Scanslation guide collection
>Manga editing guide
For now, I upload everything here before I put it onto Sad Panda.
Shit that's getting translated and typeset by anons:
World of Moral Reversal
To Make the World Flowers

I wish somebody would one day pick up and finish scanlating Danchi Majo.
The people in the /v/ Share Thread requested for these doujins to get scanned first so I'll be uploading these soon.
japanese pornographic comics? those are short right, i will give you a hand adding the text on those, i will read the guides for now.
I always use gimp when I edit pictures, I guess it should be enough right?
Yeah they can be pretty short. Most are 18 - 24 pages with anthology series being around 120 pages. I use Paint+ to edit images but that's mainly for cropping and adjusting colors. Photoshop is much better if I need to remove noise/moire.
This was also coming out on this Komiket (I totally forgot about it)
>Software shits the bed
>Now all my cropped settings or overwritten
Thankfully it was the color settings. But this is still pretty annoying.
I was the one who replied to that post saying I would scan it. The image in the OP is from my scan though it was simply a quick one. I can definitely tell the colors aren't accurate. Once I get done with most of the C95 uploads, I can finally work on that.
Thanks a bunch! That's awesome.
Out of curiosity, and you don't need to get into specific numbers, but do you usually spend a lot of money on komikets?
<Thankfully it *wasn't the color settings.
If it was color settings that was fucked up. That would be really bad. It took ages to make these color settings.
I spend a lot of money on shipping that's for sure. My last shipment was nearly 200 dollars but it came with nearly a hundred doujins. So yeah I spend a lot on Comiket.
Bless your hear anon.
I thought it was going to be a share thread, but this and that deserve separate threads so that's alright.
Ya forgot to link your sad-panda, in case someone is more interested in something there.
Maybe the BO or a janny could edit the OP to link scanlation projects that already have dedicated threads, just for ease or reference.
Now if only a TL-anon could get in here.
The first batch of doujins have been scanned and cleaned. Not everything posted here >>85674 has been uploaded but there are some others that. The Momio (second image) doujin is still being uploaded.
This CR Nest doujin (1st image) is already posted but it looks like the uploader didn't change the shadows so it looks like it has a gray filter over everything. So I'll just upload the version I scanned.
Here's the version I'm going to upload, which can also be found in the drive link above.
Thanks, I should have put that down in the OP.
We should have a share thread.
Should the PDF thread have all it's contents taken or fused into a share thread? >>7916
nah, it would just clutter the place up with pdf posts.

Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu

Also waiting typesetting.
I'll start typesetting Flowers
I said for the third time.
can someone check out if these are any good? raws are in the usual places
Sorry I've been meaning to do that I've just been busy with Normalfag shit like work and bills I'm going to start it and other stuff here tomorrow.
This doujinshi was tagged incomplete. If you guys can find the raws and complete the rest of it, go ahead.
Any TLanons around to say if they're up for something, too busy, or uninterested in works available?
I already have a lot but I can put in on my list.
I'll probably hop between Number Girl and Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu for a while.
Is any of those newly uploaded considered a priority?
>I already have a lot but I can put in on my list.
>Is any of those newly uploaded considered a priority?
Nah, simply asking if you're thinking of picking something up later. No pressure, no hurry.
I'm going to learn how to typeset. My victim is Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu first so take it with a grain of salt how well I do at first. Just letting you guys know.
Quality checking and revision is a thing, but anons don't seem critical or maybe don't even check. Then again, people skip over scanlation threads if they aren't a part of it. So this thread could be a hub to ask for QC on dedicated threads.
Should I post the manga for QC here first and then the manga thread after QC or just link you guys when I post it?
Whichever is fine.
If you're going to be dumping images it might be best to post it on the relevant thread and linking it, like if you're reposting a whole work for a last look when you think you're done. You also have the option to upload it to a file-host you control, like MEGA, for the same purpose.
>You also have the option to upload it to a file-host you control, like MEGA, for the same purpose.
That makes the most sense. I'll upload the chapter when I get done with it to my mega and post it in both threads asking for QC before the chapter gets shipped.
When translators get upset with scraping sites.
That's gsy as fuck to ruin the pages. The best thing to do is to put the link in the credits page.
Let this be a reminder to us of what not to do.
Exactly. Credits pages exist for a reason.
Another website to add to my backups for when shit gets deleted from supposedly "better" websites
>The best thing to do is to put the link in the credits page.
MangaFucks removes the credit pages which is why scanlators hate them. Real publishers get fucked since they host licensed works and scanlators get fucked when they can't e-beg while their efforts are hosted on a site full of malware ads making.
I found it funny and even considered it.
>full of malware ads making.
>MangaFucks removes the credit pages
That's pretty shit.
>MangaFucks removes the credit pages which is why scanlators hate them
nothing much you can do about them, aside from not using them.
If any of you liked Otto Carius - Tigers in the Mud ( >>72311 ), here's some really neat shit translators have overlooked for decades. Miyazaki wrote a shitton of short /k/ manga in his spare time covering everything from the American Civil War to both World Wars and the Spanish Civil War, and later compiled it into Hayao Miyazaki's Daydream Data Notes. Basically nothing in this book except The Age of the Flying Boat has an English translation, official or otherwise, despite being over 20 years old.
The book's around $30-something on Amazon.co.jp and there's a scan up at https://exhentai.org/g/111408/3eb854c6b2/ . It's a big project with over a hundred pages, but if you somehow pulled it off or even just translated some individual stories you'd get a lot of exposure and goodwill.
Here's a list of the stories included:
>The Unknown Youngest Brother of the Giants (知られざる巨人の末弟 Shirarezaru Kyojin no Mattei) : A king of a Vulcan country orders the construction of a huge airplane.
>The Pride of Steel (甲鉄の意気地 Koutetsu no Ikuji) : A story about the Monitor and the Merrimack, two ironclad ships of the American Civil War.
>Enter the Multigun Tower (多砲塔の出番 Tahoutou no Deban) : A pig creates a huge tank and kidnaps a girl. Her boyfriend comes after them, and he and the girl finally destroy the tank. Miyazaki wanted to make an anime out of this. He even said, "I want to make the tank go at full speed with Country Road as BGM." (!) There was a plan to make it into an OAV, but the project never materialized.
>The Eyes of a Farmer (農夫の眼 Noufu no Me) : Based on Andre Malreaux's semi-autobiographical novel L'Espoir, this is a story about a farmer who finds an enemy base during the Spanish Civil War. It features a Potez 540 bomber.
>Steel of the Dragon (竜の甲鉄 Ryuu no Koutetsu) : A story about the Teien and the Chinen, Chinese battleships in the China-Japan War of 1905.
>Heavy Bomber over Kyuushu (九州上空の重轟炸機 Kyuushuu Joukuu no Juugousakuki) : A story about a Chinese heavy bomber (Martin 139W) which flew to Kyuushuu in Japan to conduct a night "air raid". But instead of bombs, it dropped fliers calling for peace.
>The Antiaircraft Guntower (高射砲塔 Koushahoutou) : A story about a huge antiaircraft guntower in Germany and the many Allied air force attempts to remove it.
>Q Ship (Ｑ・ｓｈｉｐ) : A story about a "Q Ship" during World War I. A "Q Ship" was an English battleship which disguised itself as a civilian ship by putting sails on its radio mast to fight against German U-boats, who were fooled into taking it as their easy target.
>The story of Anshoumaru (安松丸物語 Anshoumaru Monogatari) : A story about the Anshoumaru, a Japanese make-shift aircraft carrier.
>Over London, 1918 (ロンドン上空１９１８年 Rondon Joukuu 1918 Nen) : A story about the German air raids of London.
>The Poorest Front (最貧前線 Saihin Zensen) : A story about the Japanese fishing boat Kisshoumaru and her crew, who were commandeered by the Japanese Navy.
>The Age of the Flying Boat (飛行艇時代 Hikoutei Jidai) : The manga that Porco Rosso is based on.
>The Pig's Tiger (豚の虎 Buta no Tora) : A story about Hans, a German mechanic and a Tiger tank.
If the WORDSWORDSWORDS history dumps and diagrams didn't cue you in, this might not be a great beginner project.
I don't want to go back to typesetting before getting photoshop.
What version and a safe source?
This will take some autism to do I think we should work on the other stuff then come back to this when we have the experience.
Wasn't there some image edditing software that went free for hobbyists? I dont know how they would go about checking it, but it seemed to be a good one (or so I heard, I'm a layman on the subject)
PaintNET, GIMP, Krita?
I already use PaintNET but I'm getting tired of it since the default text tool is really limited and the add-on text tool wastes time needing coordinates to position text instead of dragging it around.
I'll look it up. But no, it was something that used to be paid, but went free for people not using it commercially.
grab it from cgpeers if you can.
How this look for QC? I've got half the volume cleaned which covers all the chapters in the script and now I'm just starting the typesetting.
You should pick a different font for when they're shouting, it looks pretty monotone right now. For example a bold and/or italic version of the same font works, or you could try something different like Manga Temple or Komika Title. It will make it more engaging to read too when there's a little variation, though try not to get carried away.
Also you shouldn't let the text touch the bubble, the "tug it." on the lowest bubble looks awkward.
Okay made the adjustments. How's it look now?
Also from cleaning about 100 pages the screaming text in Japnese always touches the bubbles. Is okay to touch bubbles then?
If you can't avoid text touching the bubble, then as a last resort, you can put a bit of extra white space behind the text to push the bubble back, leaving a 1 or 2 pixel thick gap between the text and the bubble.
>Panel 2, "Well, you see… […]"
Terrible placement, you have plenty of bubble space. Center the text. "Something" can have its own line.
>P2, "wow, I got one"
"I got" and "one!" can be separated into their own lines, the text would be more vertical and could be enlarged for better reading.
>P3 "that's supposed […]"
It's awkward for "of" to have a line for itself since it's a short word. I'd put it with "field". Though, there are certain times when fitting text can become awkward no matter how you wrap/format it.
Too slanted, very small.
It's at your discretion. If the original does it then feel free to do so. I'd try to make it fit if it's just plain font text.
There are cases where large vertical Jap text makes fitting English horizontal text harder, in those cases it may be necessary to even leave the bubble when it's large, but this is usually when text is emphasized, like screaming or sound effects.
The smaller text looks kinda aliased, or poorly anti-aliased.
Post the original nip version. It helps decide when to change fonts.
This is the first page I've ever typeset so thank you for all the advice. I made the adjustments.
Mainly I'm talking about text like pic related where the text touches the bubbles and It's at a weird vertical slant. Do I just transform the text to the angle of the bubble or fill it up point by point?
Yea, when it's effects/yelling like that, do it however you like. Touch the bubble edge if you want to or not. You'll probably do it if you want to fit large letters in there.
That might be more of a perspective transformation than a slant. It's not too noticeable on the "ゴウアアア" but note the exclamation points on that bubble. It's more obvios on the right bubble.
Since the text is misaligned you could place each letter individually.
Or, if you just want just a single text box (in the program, not the bubble) to edit, then lower the line spacing while keeping a large font size and indent each letter through spacing. I'm assuming you're using PS, which I'm not familiar with.
Yeah I'm using Photoshop CC 2018. I'm on the seventh page of the script now and it's looking better. I do prefer to angle some text but I'm not getting too crazy with it. I need more fonts for variation but I'm also trying to keep it consistent. Pretty proud of this page. I feel like I'm getting better.
You might want to avoid the white-text with black outlines like in panel 2 and panel 5. Same with panel 2 in >>87806 . There are better fonts or formats to emphasize dialogue and those would be more legible. Panel 4 looks ok, but still consider it.
That's usually done for effects or text when it's on top of backgrounds/patterns/drawings. I try to keep a similar style/feel to the original nip text, but there are typesetters with their own preferences and some that just use the same font throughout chapters.
Ready for QC. Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu chapter 6.
White text is off putting
Excuse my lazy ass, but in the future it might be better to upload the pages here in a few posts. You'll get more anons commenting on them. Some people might not bother to download a file just to make a casual observation.
I can do that too man. On it.
Just read it, it's lit, just needs the /animu/ scans credits page.
It looks fucking good! I'm just sad that I can't help out more as I've been working but I should try to help with Again! this weekend.
Yep, just read through the mega.
Looks good to me.
I'll need credentials for who everyone is in order to make a title page. Please identify yourself if you worked on this.
Dude you got me started on this. If it wasn't for your tutoring I would still be figuring out how to do this and probably just cleaning the entire thing because of lack of confidence. Thank you for that.
Post this in the designated thread too.
Just wanted to get the okay that it's ready looks like I can do that now.
All I really did was talk about how to clean a few things, but what you did was a prime reason why this board is great and makes me want to get my shit in order to help Again! and
Stravaganza: Isai no Hime. Speaking Stravaganza the translator balled on it I want to typeset but the guy kinda just fucked off so help would be appreciated. I gave the raws so I have them all but I need a translator to really get things moving.
Made a test page of /animu/ scans yes I'm doing this on my work laptop
Oh thank you. Having a title page be consistent across scans will help a lot. Just need the names of the people that worked on Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu and I can edit that for the end of the chapter. What font should we use for the names?
>What font should we use for the names?
I used lemon font for the title but I guess you could use a different one for the names.
TLanon here. You can keep me anonymous.
Thats some mighty work there anon.
This is an example of credit page from the Number Girls manga who's also getting TL'd by /ourguys/
Your idea of "taking it easy" is to put incredible strain on everyone's eyes with high resolution neon colors?
It was a test but I can make the background white /Black or a less eye hurting colour
>can't gaze upon glorious neon cyan
Whoops let me fix the second one!
I like the white one. Looks clean and should be a good change of pace from Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu's edgelord levels of DaRkNeSs.
Alright white it is.
Making the title page now unless a proofreader wants credit on it?
Let's see the title.
You could use this transparent Tomoe too.
Sure give me a sec
I can use that instead. Working on it now.
Raws provider here: you can put me as "International Monetary Fund", if you want.
>International Monetary Fund
Put Tomoe more to the left, she's too close to the credits.
Second one is the best and for each manga we do we should base the credits page on it.
Let me fix that since I made the page.
I can work with that. Proofreader will be added as he schooled me on a mistake in the manga thread. He's not the proofreader for nothing.
All right going to post it to the manga thread.
Stand up work to everyone!
Chapter 5 is out of order.
Not my fault. The uploader (MysteryGirl) forgot to specify the volume number, that's why.
I wonder if that could be fixed.
Adding: if it isn't fixed in a few days, i'm reporting the problem to the moderators in hope of a fix, already told them to update the outdated cover with the new one.
If you have an android tablet, get this manga app.
Really comfy and one can favorite /animu/'s projects into the library and can get updated whenever the scans get uploaded. Just install the mangadex extension.
We beat the year mark.
Have Futari wa Pretty Anon truly dropped the manga?
1/18/19 was just last month.
That was just an uploading of older chapters. Pretty Anon translated it years ago. I think it was either one of the last of TranslatorFag's or the beginning of TankTopFag's translations.
I haven't been paying attention to this thread for a few days. I would've helped QC if I knew.
I would've said that was really fast, but then noted all the chapter's text was inside bubbles. I always have redraw shit for simple dialogue; it takes time and I'm kinda lazy.
Also, remember we don't have IDs. I gave typesetting advice earlier but it seems you mistook cleaner-anon for those in >>88663 Even as anon, being thanked makes be giddy.
Forgot to mention: The text in page 16's first panel looks like shit.
>then white outline
>then black outline
>then white outline
Did the raw look like that?
But I'm both cleaner anon and typesetter anon. Regardless thank you for the advice. You're the best. Was there cleans I could have been using?
That was a case of me trying to get Komika Title - Brush to appear on a black background. I stroked it white in order for it to appear but for some reason it turned the inside black. I ran the chapter by a non-/animu/ buddy after release and he said that looked bad so I'll be figuring out something different for black background dialogue like that. It won't happen again.
Also if needed I can make a dropbox or Jewoogle drive for PSD file transfers if you need help cleaning up shit. Also if you have an IPS monitor it helps a fuck load for colours and it doesn't have to be like the a professional grade one Like we have at my job but even a cheap one will give you much better colours if you have one on hand, also always have backups in case of a fuck up.
I have a mega and a googledrive. The googledrive I've barely used at all. My main monitor is a 4K rez 55 inch TV. My second monitor is just a slightly smaller and newer version of the same TV. They're detailed but I would need advice on how to set up the color settings for color pages. The manga I'm doing is pretty easy in terms of not being in color and most of the text in the script is in the bubbles. It's good for me to learn on. I save every changed edition in a new file but I probably do need to make copies on my external HDDs to be extra safe.
Also I just checked the specs for my TV and it's an IPS panel with HDR. Here's what I'm working on: https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-55UH6030-4k-uhd-tv
>using a TV as a monitor
I don't do much gaming so speed isn't an issue.
I meant, mistook the one whom you replied to in that post.
How many typesetters/cleaners are here? 3?
Most mangoes aren't very colorful, but if necessary I'll post them here for others to check.
Seems to be 3 people talking. I'm Sparrow. I cleaned and typeset Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu chapter 6 and am working on 7 now.
just realized that means I'm just naming myself into the void. These are my posts.
Televisions are designed to be viewed from a greater distance than monitors, so the panel quality is usually lower.
Glad to see this thread is going well. I just finished uploading all my scanned doujins I got during C95 to Sad Panda. All around 70 doujins or something. Now it's time to rest.
>mfw /sp/ didnt steal those digits
I'm a type setter You might know me as Jazzy who host the movie streams I haven't done much yet due to my work but I did make
These to help out.
Thank you for your efforts. Made the title page easy as pie.
Holy mother of avatara!
There's nothing new on Comic Valkyrie for Moral Reversal.
I'm wondering if there's anything else worth ripping off the site, but chapters are hidden after a while and you'd have to buy them on amazon or something.
There are readable non-serialized works there too, if anyone is interested.
I've got chapter 7 of Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu ready for QC but I'm about to go to bed. I'll post it, go to bed, and review for changes tomorrow morning.
And chapter. I might be up for 30 minutes or so but going to sleep after that.
>3rd image, pg52
>last bubble in image
>"It's like a group formed by."
>1st image, pg55
>"Smell of blood!?"
Maybe adding "The" might sound better?
-A lot of text seems kinda small, like the screaming in the 1st bubble in pg49 >>88930 that should probably be more noticeable, but I don't have the raws to compare for that specific example. Some TS have different preferences for text size when it comes to normal dialogue.
- Avoid vertical text whenever possible.
- I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread I, the text looks strangely rendered. Thick in some strokes, pixel thin in others, even in the same word or letter.
- This mango looks gay
For page 47, the "Bashu" part is the sound of her arm cannon coming out, but the font looks like her speech font in the next bubble over; maybe a different font would make it clearer that it's SFX.
Page 52 panel 4 had a bit cut off at the end of Zenobia's speech. It should say "It's like a group formed by dead people." or "It's like a group made up of dead people.".
The raws can be found at >>80774 if you want to take a look at them.
Seam the double spread and then put each page individually.
The font and weight change is awkward.
Again, stitch the double spread together. When you open a physical book the image should be noticeable.
The scream in the latter panel doesn't carry enough weight. Make the text bigger and bolder so it takes up more of the bubble. If it exits the bubble, you can either erase the overflow or leave it for emphasis. Note that you can change the spacing between the letters if it's vertical.
>4th, 5th image
Maybe point out what's spoken in English like you do later on?
Improve the animal's screeching in the first bubble. Again, add more weight to it.
Change "Mr. Mikado" to "Mister Mikado." It's strange to see it spelled out in nip but abbreviated in english.
Improve the yell in the last panel.
4th panel: make the text bigger like in the raw, he's yelling, the text takes up more space
Last panel: Actually, maybe "A blood smell!?" might work better
Hey, I'm from the Neptunia thread on /v/ and I have two requests since you guys are pretty good. The threads translated the first half of this book >>>/nep/1516 in 2016 but never got around to translating the second half or the extra stuff near the end.
Here's a mega link for the book:
The other request was that there's a new oneshot that needs to be scanned and translated and nobody's gotten around to scanning the artbook that comes with the LE for Super Neptunia RPG or the exclusive book that comes with certain version of the LE (4th pic is what got me interested in that book).
Manga oneshot: https://dengekiya.com/shop/g/g4942330119396/ (Pics are from the preview in Dengeki Neptune Vol 4)
Super Nep RPG Dengeki Special Edition: https://dengekiya.com/shop/g/g4942330114025/
I like the font choices. I just think some could have a bigger size, like "volunteered" in p_054.
Okay. Made the adjustments.
I can't do that one without making the text only slightly bigger but not really vertically or hyphenating the shit out of it to make it fit in the bubble. Let me know if this one is a deal breaker.
Discount Wesker looks pretty cool. What will be the next step of his masterplan, I wonder?
Probably getting a double blow job.
Touched up a few more pages. Realized Andira was the one talking in the third box first panel on page 39.
I have a feeling translators are overburdened or don't want to. I'm not seeing any in this thread.
>1st image laugh
Not gey, good job.
I was referring to the civilian's text on the right, not the lady's.
The Neptunia High School Light Novels didn't get translated either. But at least LNs don't need typesetters.
>I have a feeling translators are overburdened or don't want to. I'm not seeing any in this thread.
I think it's better to focus on their own projects that they are working on. More anons should learn Japanese and help ease the workload of the translators here since there's only two guys that know Nihongo doing the work.
There are only a few TLanons and 3 type setters we are stretched thin.
Maybe a more handwritten looking font would match better? Give me ideas man.
Keep the font weight consistent for the civie text, like in the raw. Change the fatter text on the right for something else, and revert the girl's text to what you had.
Fat fonts emphasizes the text, which is why it's used for yelling or sound effects. Maybe I'm taking issue with that panel since the font is being used for such small text.
Here are some fonts in general since you're mentioning it.
LN's are also way harder to translate since you have way less context to work with.
I went with augie. How are we looking now?
That looks better except for the bald guy's text.
Did you think that looks readable?
Fixed the chromo-
Posted chapter 7 to the manga thread. If IMF sees it here first here's the mega for it. https://mega.nz/#F!cuxTVIQa!8dD4ArYng_TOPXwcDKOvaQ
>The Neptunia High School Light Novels didn't get translated either.
Some guys on Leddit did that last year, alongside translating the rest of the Megami Tsuushin manga.
Light Novels: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B7ta2Ki7e3E3SnUxVGxyNDY2SWs

>More anons should learn Japanese and help ease the workload of the translators here since there's only two guys that know Nihongo doing the work.
You could ask for help from the Japanese Learning Threads. And the Buyfag thread for acquiring the books. I really don't have $190+ for that LE.
I also found a Amazon link for the oneshot:
I really want 8chan to translate that oneshot before Leddit or 4um get to it.
looks good enough to be uploaded imo
Which one do I get?
Don't people go for specific versions?
I don't know which are safer.
add "CS6" into the search.
Someone needs to finish the Gundam build fighters manga that's been left half done for years by /m/. That whole series is great but no one touches it. The only guy who does Gundam any more is a queer who abandons projects so often he may as well not even start them. He just convinces others not to pick them up then drops them 2 issues in.
I'm just going off of /v/'s share thread.
Should I leave the Engrish in even with a obvious misspelling and put a note in the margin or should I clean and redo it?
Leave it, don't be the obnoxious typesetter leaving notes for Engrish, it's super common and quite funny, actually..
I won't be making jokes in my typesetting. That's what /animu/ is for. Just wanted to know if the proper thing to do was *This bubble was left as is or change it completely so it's spelled correctly but we got one for do nothing which is fine by me.
The former, then. Don't change the author's mistakes.
I think that's what I'll do. If there's a significant outcry later when more people are around it won't take but a few minutes to change.
I think you should correct it. Many will think it's your typo and will try to point it out in the comments.
This is the page tentatively.
It's a manga serialization by Suzumoto Kou. Sorry to bother the translators and typsetters, but I just want to let you guys know this manga exists. Put it on the back burner or not.
Suzumoto Kou is the same guy that did this.
Kinda "tight", cramped.
only the GEEEEE part needs fixing imo.
Would it be weird if the text went from bottom-left to upper-right?
And i thought the guy begging on nearly every page was bad on the Maou-jou de Oyasumi translation was bad.
it was hilarious
I think even other groups made fun of him on their own manga
Whoever translates the Komi-san manga made a joke about it in the crossover one-shot.
Chapter 8 of Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu ready for QC.
Looks good. I got nothing to add.
>bubble left as is
>Said in engrish
For consistency :^) jk it's all good imo
>Looks good. I got nothing to add.
Well that's a first for me. I think I'm getting the hang of this. I'll wait until we get a few more opinions before posting it to the manga thread.
>Said in engrish
kek I do want to keep the shitposting in manga margins to a minimum but that is really tempting.
I spoke too soon. I found a dyslexic error on page 59. Fixing now.
Enlgish changed to English
You're doing way better than before.
Just a couple of minor stuff. Keep in mind I don't have the raws to compare to.
Pg 57, this page heavily emphasizes negative space. Maybe move the notes to a credits/notes page or make the note less visually intrusive – like shortening "background" to "BG"; leaving out "Japanese" when describing ultraman since it appears when searching it; moving the note either closer to the edge of the page or the outside edge of the panel, like below the tail and not crossing into the margin. There's also the bottom edge to not take away any focus from the drawing that's extending out of the panel.
Pg 60, the TL note - newline "left", it'll look a bit cleaner with
Pg 61, last bubble - May want to enlarge it a bit more.
Pg 62, panel four - align the text
Good job on 64, 66, 68 with the yelling.
Pg67, align "that's bad, people…" and "Fucking beast…" text with their boxes. This might just be me being OCD over the text being a few pixels off.
Pg70, you can newline "Human" in "Is he really human" to not squish the text so much and lower the line spacing if you want to keep a horizontal look.
Pg75, Top two bubble's text are too close to the top edges. Again, OCD. There's also a smudge in the first bubble's C.
Pg80. Make the first bubble's text bigger.
I wouldn't blame you if you think I'm being nitpicky but I could do a lot worse. Try imagine me being irritated when a group's QCer makes me fix stuff.
Made the adjustments.
Oops. p_80 for QC two is here. I uploaded the old one.
Posting Chapter 8 to the manga thread now that everyone seems on board.
Sorry if I sound like an ungrateful greedy faggot, but was 平成同人物語 scanned?
Seconding this. The moment I saw the pic in OP I've been itching to check it out.
Photoshop download where?
this shit is pretty funny so i did the typesetting, the translation was from //danbooru.donmai.us/posts?tags=salpin
Bullying like that turns me on.
This is good bulli.
I dont know the order of the this pages, so im giving it a guess
and thats it, all the translated stuff so far for this couple
and a footfag short stories
this looks good enough to be published on mangadex
You're just missing a panel on >>91041
World of Moral Reversal hasn't updated in a while.
Chapter 9 of Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu ready for QC.
and done. Let me know what you think p_100 and p_101 stitch was a nightmare so I'm not sure what to even do about that.
Maybe add a note explaining the timeframe joke
>TN: Mikado is breaking the 4th wall, making a reference to the IRL time it took between chapters.
It's better than being split, I guess.
Thank you. I'm going to wait until morning to get as much feedback as possible and then post the chapter.
On page 88, panel 2, there's a wobbly text box in the lower left that got cleaned without being filled in. It should say
>Ugh, it stings…
Sorry >>91307 , meant to link to >>91312
Good thing we have plenty of people checking this, because it went completely unoticed by me.
>You're just missing a panel on
Oh, forgot to mention, that panel wasnt translated on danbooru, so can anyone translate it, so i can finish it?
>You said that while knowing green is my favorite color, didn't you?
>I meant I didn't like it in carnivorous terms.
>O- oh… well, either way, deal with it. (literally "overcome it")
Got it. I must have missed that from putting together the script. Big mistake on my part.
Ok, its finished, who is going to upload it?
You can do it, /aniu/ scans is an open group on mangadex
you meant /animu/ right?
yep, /animu/ scans
I'm not stupid, I swear
I'm going to get you an "I am aho" shirt for your birthday.
>tfw you just fapped to your own erodoujin translation
Kinda proud of myself to be totally honest
I just fapped to this post. I hope you're greasy and hairy because that's how I imagined it.
The translator and typsetter seemed to have disappeared.
I'm by far one of the hairiest guys I know. I'd say my greasiness is middling.
Just the translators.
Is that you, John Wayne? Is this me?
Typesetter for Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu. The translator and proofreader have been working on that manga but are shifting gears to Moral Reversal soon. I'm still working on chapter ten so this is good timing for everyone.
Sorry for keeping you guys waiting. I've just been going through my scanning backlog and just got done scanning a bunch of kemono stuff. What resolution would you guys like that artbook in anyway? I usually scan artbooks at 400dpi but I can go higher if anyone wants that. I'm on vacation so I have plenty of time to dedicate to it.
I think scanlating completed works like Number Girl & Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu are great and intelligent ideas.
There are problems with scanlating ongoing works such as
>Scanlation Groups fighting to see who gets to scanlate and group drama
>Manga may start well, but goes to shit
>Manga gets axed
With completed works, you can avoid all that bullshit. A lot of good manga goes untranslated and goes under everyone's radars. Best of all is when the translator simply reads the manga and the ending to see whether or not it's worth translating.
I wish I had a pet kemono. A petto.
Would you fuck your petto? You wouldn't, right?
Chapter 10 of Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu ready for QC.
And done. Let me know what you think.
On page 134, panel 1, the name should be "Kawabata Souichirou" since we're going with "last name, first name" order.
Good catch and I also got one that I found on 118.
>rating for first doujin I translated was 4.24
>worked really hard on the second one and did better job
How do you guys deal with it?
OH GOD SOMEONE ELSE RATED IT AND NOW IT'S DOWN TO 3.06 JUST FUCKING END IT
Okay we're back up to 4.07 I think I'm gonna make it
You shouldn't care about ratings unless they're specifically talking about the work you put in. Most of the time you fade into the background and it's the work itself that shines or fails.
>You shouldn't care about ratings
Yeah I realize it's probably just people giving their opinions on the actual work itself but you have to understand that this is my only real form of social validation that I get and so those high ratings really mean a lot to me.
Have you ever had to work with customers? Or read business reviews for stores? People will pass a compliment to the face of an employee but that's as far as it goes. If something happens that they don't like, however, HOO BOY do they have to complain. They just HAVE to bitch to SOMEone, ideally as many people as possible. That's why you see so many stores that are just fine getting rated around the middle or worse since it's all people bitching about the one bad experience they had in the place, along with a couple more reasonable people who know not to take one bad thing as the whole bundle.
This still applies to product reviews in online stores, just not as much since those sites tend to encourage anyone who purchases to leave their thoughts on the product. Since rating isn't implied mandatory, or actively pushed or encouraged with your medium, you're mostly going to get the bitchy retards. It doesn't help that your product is also other content. It's like those YouTube videos on animal cruelty; even if the video is very good-quality and informative and well done, people will give it a thumbs down because they don't like the subject matter and don't understand how video rating works. Read the comments if you get any and see how many are just pointless low ratings, and how many are middling scores from people actually doing helpful critiques. The latter are your friends, the rest are mostly background noise.
>but you have to understand that this is my only real form of social validation
Don't fall into the validation through social media trap, anon. You've seen what those people are like. Listen to commentary and decide if what they're saying is valid and then apply good ideas to your craft to improve.
>Yeah I realize it's probably just people giving their opinions on the actual work itself
And yeah, most times it's them rating the series. They don't think about the translations unless it stands out as being weird or gets filled with memes. If you see a mango online rated 2/5 and one rated 4/5, most people are going to think the series is getting bad or good reviews. They won't be thinking, "Man, the translator and cleaner must really suck". It'll be more along the lines of, "That series must be a generic shitshow with bad writing," or something.
Have you tried translating it to Australian? :^)
But in all seriousness, don't let it get you down. They are judging the work itself, not your translation. The only thing you should worry about is having your translations be faithful.
Serious question: do mods get pissed at troll translations on ex or can I upload whatever I want? I'm seriously considering making an eromanga about saving the white race.
That's very inspiring advice, thank you anon. I realize that I'm being stupid, I was like 75% joking, but it's still fun to get worked up over things. The second thing I translated was more of a specific fetish I guess (I thought urination was a pretty normal thing to like but I guess not) so it's natural that less people would like it.
>The only thing you should worry about is having your translations be faithful
Yeah I have trouble with this sometimes. When I translate stuff, I think, "would anyone ever actually say this in English?" Often I'll have to butcher sentences pretty bad if I want to stick to this dogma and I know a lot of purists would get pissed at me but I feel like it creates a much smoother and more natural sounding read. I don't know, I feel like it could be purists getting angry too. For example, I translated "konbini" to "mini-market" and just "store" depending on the context. I could have said food mart I guess but convenience store is way too cumbersome and a JC who has to piss really bad absolutely wouldn't say that. I also never write "eh," I always change it to "what" or"huh." Does this kind of stuff actually bother people or am I overthinking things? It's not like I'm doing any "jelly donut" or "rub-a-dub-dub" tier stuff.
On a side note: I noticed that the most popular eromanga are all shit with some generic "sole male" that's either a teenage boy or a shota. Why the fuck to people like that nonsense? I feel like any rational person would prefer girls only, DILF, otaku, fat guys, or generally unconventional men. Every time I see some "ideal" man or some badass high school boy fucking the women I want, it makes me wanna punch the screen. Do most people who fap to this stuff think of themselves as "cool" MC-type people? Because if you don't then I don't get how you could fap to that stuff. Makes me fucking mad. Is everyone on exhentai really that cool?
I mostly see troll translations on nhentai.
Because people don't want to see cute girls get defiled by ugly bastards. It's preferable if the couple is aesthetically pleasing.
>thank you anon
No one wants to look at a fat hairy fucker ploughing a girl, plus it's supposed to be some form of escapism to boot.
I'm actually pretty slim. For years I had women call me "cute", "handsome" and "gorgeous" and girls pat my head to feel my soft long hair. My hair is similar to Joker from Persona 5.
I also had a girlfriend, but now don't when I realized that 3DPD is too much of a pain in the ass and we broke up when our interests aren't compatible.
Noticed an issue with the left-hand bubble on page 118 panel 1. Instead of keeping the first part written there ("but that couldn't be real, since"), the part in the second half ("Even smell and touch…") was meant to replace both the first and second halves of that bubble. In short, take out the first half and fill in the whole bubble with the second half.
>Otome Kaijuu Caramelize is being translated to Spanish
>still no English translation
I'm dying here
How far is it in the Spanish?
I'll see if I could translate to English from the spansih.
Only 2 chapters half a year ago.
I don't know Japanese, but I am a spic. I don't know if translating from Spanish to English would be a good idea.
+ makes it finally readable to English readers without having to pray for someone to pick it up
+ gives us a good manga to work on
- translation will be extra detached from the original writing
- it will be dependent on the Spanish translation, so the English translation can't continue until the Spanish does
- discourages direct japanese-to-english translators from picking it up
So the cons outweigh it then.
>- discourages direct japanese-to-english translators from picking it up
I disagree. I think its a good idea to translate spic->burg, draw attention to it, then after a
tactical hiatus totaly legitimate and inevitable hiatus, hope that someone picks it up.
Read the comments and improve upon it if you can. If no one says anything, then just try to improve upon the things you think needs work. Otherwise, I don't think it matters. People can rate for many reasons whether it's due to the quality of the work its self, the quality of the scan/translation/editing or it just had a character or theme they liked/hated.
>Why the fuck to people like that nonsense?
They're easy to self insert into and people wish they could live like that when they were younger so they project themselves upon them. If you don't care about doing that, it most likely won't appeal to you.
>Do most people who fap to this stuff think of themselves as "cool" MC-type people?
People just wish they were that smooth and could say all the cool things at the right moment to get those 10/10 girls that all their peers were fawning over.
>Makes me fucking mad. Is everyone on exhentai really that cool?
Of course not. It's just fantasy and wish fulfillment.
Yes, that works. Looking back at the original proofreading post in question, I realize it was confusing; sorry about that, I'll fix it in the future.
I wish more people do "JoJo saves the day" edits as alternate endings to bad endings.
You're fine man. I got confused is all and that's what QC time is for. Clarifications so we can put out the best release possible. We caught it so there's no worries. It took me longer to compress the file back down than it did to change it and all together I was done in less than five minutes. I think we're golden now so I'm going to post the chapter to the manga thread and put it in the Mega for release on MangaDex.
>People just wish they were that smooth and could say all the cool things at the right moment to get those 10/10 girls that all their peers were fawning over
I do too but I can only self-insert into losers, fat men, and DILFs. I not ugly or anything, I'm incredibly average looking. In fact, I prefer if the men I'm self inserting into are uglier than me, or at least old men. Is there something wrong with me? I can't even consume any media about normal heterosexual romance anymore. It makes me too angry. Maybe I'm just bad at self-inserting. Can you teach me how to self-insert? I feel like I'd be much happier if I could.
Sounds like you are in early developments into developing an NTR fetish. Happened to a few guys I know where it started with preffering porn with ugly bastards and then moving on to NTR and fantasizing in getting cucked.
Since it's this early, you can nip it in the bud. Try nofap or go for another fetish for awhile like trap shotas since both options are better than becoming a 2D cuckold.
Nope, I've been like this for the past few years. Always hated NTR. I hate vanilla sex specifically because if feels like I'm getting cucked, and I hate getting cucked. I can't self-insert into the vanilla males since I feel like they're better than me. Theoretically, I could self-insert into a cuckold but I really don't see what the difference between NTR and vanilla porn is. I like fat men and ugly men and DILFS because I see them as non-threatening and so I can self-insert into them. I'm about as far from liking NTR as it gets. The only thing I hate more than NTR is scat.
>I can't self-insert into the vanilla males since I feel like they're better than me
Are you kidding?
Most vanilla males are so generic and have no personality to the point of being blank slates.
I pity you for feeling inferior to a blank slate of all things.
>I like fat men and ugly men and DILFS because I see them as non-threatening
The majority of NTR are filled with these fat ugly guys raping and doing cucking dudes. I think your logic is backwards.
>Fat ugly old men

>Is there something wrong with me? I can't even consume any media about normal heterosexual romance anymore. It makes me too angry.
Sounds like you resent normalfags or at least you've recently figured out the difference between what society
lied to you about promised you and what reality actually offers when it comes to relationships. It's just something you have to come to accept and get over.
>Maybe I'm just bad at self-inserting. Can you teach me how to self-insert?
I barely ever self insert when reading manga. If I want to do that, I just listen to ero-audio. It's a lot more personal than any other kind of digital adult entertainment.
>I feel like I'd be much happier if I could.
Just do what makes you happy instead. If you can't be happy because you can't self insert, then that's something you have to get over. It may take years, but you might get better over the years.
Complete novice here.
How does one go about dealing with bubbles like this? In a couple cases I've been able to find another place the artist has used the same template, copy the relevant corner from that, and paste it over, but for most of the area that needs redrawing there just aren't any clean instances to do that with.
Redrawing it manually seems impossibly time-consuming (especially since redrawing is the part of the process I am least skilled in), leaving it is ugly as sin, and it seems to take up too much of the bubble to be able to cover it over with a uniform ellipse.
This is an H-doujin, not a proper manga, so I guess standards can be a little lower, but still.
>I like fat men and ugly men and DILFS because I see them as non-threatening and so I can self-insert into them
Fat ugly men are the most threatening guys in hentai.
These are the guys that brutally rape lolis and impregnate other men's wives. Even a handsome young lad will get mentally destroyed as he gets NTR'd by a Fat Ugly Man banging his girlfriend in front of him.
That's a tough one and I'm pretty new to typesetting so maybe someone with more experience could provide a better answer but what I would do is sample the lines with the clone stamp tool and draw my way inward. It's going to be time consuming anyway you look at it but much less so with the stamp tool.
>tfw you'll never be a fat ugly old man who ntr's hot women
Fat ugly old men are the ultimate chads.
he'll even cuck his own son by raping his girlfriend, though it may be adopted son, and for some reason he always has a bigger dick and his son didn't get the genetics.
also dominant shotas, with abnormally large penis.
You just developed a corruption fetish, a sexy woman getting corrupted by a fat ugly man.

[Mushikera Hoihoi] Yakusoku no Yoru ni | On the promised Night (2D Comic Magazine Yuri Ninshin Vol. 4) [English] [/yuri/ Scanlations] [Digital]
First /yuri/ release. Hello /animu/.
I wish yuri manga about lolis were more common, though this is good.
Keep up the good work.
Sorry about that - I screwed up the link so I deleted it and re-posted it.
And here's our credits page. Feel free to visit our board. We only really revived as a board (and the board itself only had 50 posts on it) last week so this is basically a brand new yuri board.
I like you. Your board is just another ingredient to make 「Heaven」just like /animu/. Go to the meta and ask to be a sister board. Enter the Attention Hungry Games on /sudo/.
But in all. Seriousness, is /yuri/ a /u/ spin-off or companion board. That's double the forbidden love.
/u/ should enter the Attention Hungry Games too.
>No NSFW Lolis allowed
What is even the point of that board?
We're technically a spinoff board of 8/u/ and old 4/u/ in that we're allowing all of the same content that was posted on 4/u/ here. Meaning a bunch of stuff that isn't purely Japanese in origin. But also trying to avoid the politics of 4/u/ and 8/u/. In addition to not having threads full of deleted posts which is now a problem across 4/u/ (and 4chan in general).
Basically it's 4/u/ on 8ch but better.
At least allow NSFW loli yuri.
You can just go to 8/u/ for this sort of content you do know that right?
I guess 8/u/ will continue to be my sole yuri board then. No disrespect, but good luck with that board and continue on with the good work.
I'll probably just stick with /u/ then.
cease your faggotry
don't link people directly to your board if you don't want it riddled with normalfags
What kind of homosexual would go to /yuri/, then?
8/u/ has been linking back to their 8ch for years by now. If anyone in yuri communities doesn't know about 8ch by now, they're under a rock.
I'd say I'm not actually defending this but I've never given it a second thought even though, as I said, its been happening for years.
>8/u/ has been linking back to their 8ch for years
That's a damn shame. Loli yuri is the only yuri I care about.
